The total cost of your PADI Open Water certification is split into two components:

  1. PADI eLearning Fee (~$250 USD): Paid directly online to PADI when you register for your interactive course materials.

  2. Blue Note Scuba In-Water Fee ($400 USD / 7,000 MXN): Paid directly to our shop in Cozumel.

This structure ensures you complete your classroom theory at your own pace before arriving, leaving your vacation days entirely dedicated to diving.

Why are course costs split into two separate payments?

PADI handles digital courseware (eLearning) through its global platform so you retain lifetime access to digital manuals, logbooks, and study modules. As a PADI 5-Star Dive Center, Blue Note Scuba charges for the practical training in Cozumel: expert instruction, boat time, dive gear, and hands-on skill development.

Duration: 3 Days, 2 days at our shore training site and 1 day on the boat. Each day approximately 4 hours.

Prerequisites:

  • Minimum age 10 years old

  • Completion of eLearning, 5 knowledge reviews, 4 quizzes and final exam before any in water activities

  • Completion of online documents, Liability Release, Medical Statement, Safe Diving Practices

  • Ability to swim 200m and tread water

PADI Course Description

  • We begin the course with PADI eLearning. This is ordered directly from PADI and this knowledge development course is completed before arriving in Cozumel. This allows you to learn at your pace and schedule.

  • Confined Water Dives to learn the basics of scuba diving and safety skills.

  • Four Open Water Dives to practice your skills and explore scuba diving. The last 2 dives will be in the World Famous Cozumel Marine Park.

Complete the PADI eLearning at the comfort of your home and practice skills in a pool with your nearest PADI dive center at your home town.
