  • CHANKANAAB National Park : a protected place since 1980 and also a shelter for fauna and flora. Natural lagoon, botanical and archeological garden, snork, sea trek, snack food...
  • Dolphin Discovery : swim with dolphins
  • A lagoon in the Southern part of the island:  COLOMBIA ECOLOGICAL RESERVE a sanctuary for crocodiles, numerous birds and flamingos…
  • The LIGHTHOUSE and its Navigation Museum.


  • EL CEDRAL : it was created in the middle of the 19th century by Métis people from Valladolid who were fleeing from the Mayan revolutionaries. There you'll be able to see the only Mayan temple dating back to the pre-Hispanic era. You can also quad bike in a nearby park.
  • SAN GERVASIO : mayan ruins. Sanctuaries and temples were constructed  in honor of Ixchel, the fertility and moon goddess. Really pleasant for a walk.


 West Coast

  • Playa San Francisco : a 5km long beach, one of the most beautiful on the island and located north of Playa Mía Grand Beach Park. Its quiet waters offer underwater wonders really near the coast.
  • Playa Palancar : near the well-known Palancar reefPlaya Palancar is a pleasant public beach, with a water sports equipment rental center and a restaurant.
  • Playa Corona : really quiet, located south of Chankanaab National Park, possible to eat there.

East Coast

  • Punta Chiqueros : one of the most beautiful beach along the coastline.  Punta Chiqueros is located in a crescent-shaped bay. A reef will protect you from the waves, so it's the perfect place for swimming.
  • Playa Chen Río : its crystal clear waters and a really quiet beach enables inexperienced people to learn surfing.
  • Playa Oriente : one of the most agitated beach of the island. Only experienced surfers can challenge the Caribbean Sea waves.
